Twitter is considering changing up their brand pages – allowing for more of a Facebook-style format. This would allow companies/websites to deliver a tailored message and encourage Twitter users to follow them. It also provides revenue potential to Twitter, says Marketing Magazine.
Right now there aren’t very many promotional opportunities for brands on Twitter. A company can choose to customize their free account or purchase a Promoted Account – which allows them to be in the “recommended followers’ lists” when someone joins Twitter, or appear in the sponsored hashtags.
Dick Costolo (CEO) and Adam Bain (President of Revenue) are leading the push to create fresh revenue streams, and this is one of the ideas on the radar. The branded pages would roll out in the United States first.
What do you think of this idea? Is it too similar to Facebook pages and does it bring anything new to the table?
