Get Your Most-Newsworthy Social Media Recap With Summify

Author:

I admit to being overwhelmed with Twitter sometimes. On my personal account I follow over 1500 people, which means things can very easily get lost in the shuffle.

Enter Summify. Last Wednesday they launched a new version of their product – which delivers the top five news stories based on what your friends have shared and liked via your social media accounts.

Summify

When you sign up you connect to Google Reader, Twitter accounts, and your Facebook profile (or any combination of these). The Summify algorithm then calculates the top 5 stories and emails the list to you directly. The simple layout clearly shows the titles, what friends shared the story on Twitter, and how many friends liked it on Facebook.

You can change the amount of stories, and the frequency, within the site.

Other companies that offer Twitter and social media filtering include …

  • my6sense: presents to you content that is ranked according to your personal preferences from your various streams. You can view what’s most important to you, sorted by relevance, from all of your streams, within individual streams, and even within specific categories determined by you.
  • The Tweeted Times: aggregates news in your Twitter stream and ranks them by popularity among your friends.
  • Cadmus: a real-time service that manages your stream (Twitter, FriendFeed and RSS) by displaying the most relevant content since the last time you checked in.
  • Refyner: http://www.refynr.com/
  • Filttr: our super intelligent birds understand what interests you, and only fetch you the tweets they think you’ll want to see.
